ROCHESTER, Mich. – In total, the IUPUI volleyball team plays eight of its 10 matches in October on the road beginning with an important Summit League contest in Rochester, Mich., on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. against Oakland.
The Jaguars are currently tied atop the conference standings with IPFW at 5-1, while Oakland sits in a tie for fifth place with a 2-4 league mark.
Behind a career-high 17 kills from
Kaitlyn Hickey on Saturday, IUPUI downed Omaha, 3-0, in the first match-up between the two schools in program history. The win was the Jags fifth in their last six matches.
Through six Summit League meetings, the Jaguars rank at the top of the conference in kills per set (14.71 kps) and digs per set (18.96), while ranking second in hitting percentage (.243) and third in blocks (2.00).
Kelsey Hoefer leads the team in kills and is eighth in league play averaging 3.29 kps, while
Bethany Fogler is second in hitting percentage hitting at a .377 clip.
Beth Howard leads the conference in digs averaging 5.96 dps and Fogler sits in third in blocks rejecting 1.08 attempts per set.
The Golden Grizzlies have dropped four of their last five leading to a 2-4 conference mark. While IUPUI ranks first in digs, Oakland isn’t far behind sitting in second with 18.36 dps.
Meghan Bray leads the conference in all games averaging 4.44 kps and ranks third in league-only match-ups averaging 4.43 kps to pace the Golden Grizzlies attack.
Tuesday will be the 23rd meeting between the two schools with IUPUI owning a 14-8 edge. Despite the overall lead, the Jags have dropped three of their last four to the Golden Grizzlies and their last road win occurred back on Oct. 9, 2009 in five sets.
