BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Looking to build off its recent defensive success, the IUPUI men's soccer team will head east to take on Bowling Green State on Friday (Sept. 30) at Cochrane Field at 1:00 p.m.. Friday's match caps a streak of eight straight matches away from home.
IUPUI (1-6-2, 0-0-1 Summit) is coming off a 0-0 double overtime draw at Eastern Illinois in its Summit League opener this last weekend. The Jaguars fired a season-high 16 shots but were unable to solve the Panthers defense. On the flip side, senior goalkeeper
Tyler Keever made a season-high six saves and was later picked Summit League Defensive Player of the Week for the fifth time in his college career. The Indianapolis-native has allowed just two goals in his last 290 minutes in net.
Offensively, the Jags have struggled to find the back of the net, tallying just four goals through nine games this season. Freshman
Sam Fuller owns the team's lone game-winner of the season as IUPUI has been blanked in six of nine outings.
BGSU (5-2-1) has outscored its opponents 15-7 this season and is led offensively by freshman midfielder Danny Baraldi. The Ohio-native has two game-winning goals and a team-high six assists in eight games, all as a starter. Both Rodcliff Hall and Brandon Silva have three goals apiece for the Falcons and six different players have at least two goals. In goal, Michael Wiest has a 0.58 goals against average and has started five of the team's eight games.
IUPUI is 1-0-1 all-time against BGSU as the two teams played to a scoreless tie in Indianapolis last season.
Following the BGSU match, the Jaguars will return home for three straight home matches including Tuesday's (Sept. 4) "Pack the House" Night against Butler University at Kuntz Stadium at 7:00 p.m.. That match will feature giveaways including t-shirts, rally towels and hacky sacks as part of Super Jaguars Week, presented by Indiana Members Credit Union. Admission will be free for IUPUI students (with a valid JagTag) and to youths age 13-and-under.
In addition, the match will be streamed live as part of the
IUPUI LIVE! package on IUPUIJags.com.
