INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department's growing list of champions increased by 26 this past weekend as former student-athletes received their degrees as part of Commencement 2011. The 26 grads included representatives of 10 of IUPUI's 14 varsity sports.
The May graduates are not yet official as individual schools have until late May to certify graduates.
The IUPUI Athletics Department, as part of its continued emphasis on academics, coined the phrase 'Recruit, Retain, Graduate Champions', with Champions being defined as those that compete for the Jaguars, represent the university in a first-rate manner and earn their college degree.
Since 2004, the department has averaged over 100 3.0 GPA student-athletes per semester and annually ranks among The Summit League's top half in Academic All-Conference honorees.
