INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off a tough weekend, the IUPUI volleyball team looks to return to its winning ways on Tuesday, Oct. 25, when it kicks off its final homestand of the season against Horizon League foe Valparaiso at 7 p.m.

Tuesday’s games marks the first of four straight home games for the Jags and it will be IUPUI’s Professor Appreciation Night.

LAST TIME OUT
The Jaguars struggled on the road falling to both Southern Utah and Oral Roberts as its Summit League record dipped below .500 to 6-7, for the first time since Oct. 11.
 
Errors hindered the Jaguars in a 3-1 loss to Southern Utah, but IUPUI hung with the league-leading Golden Eagles in all four sets on Saturday.
 
After winning the opening set, 25-20, IUPUI lost the next three sets by scores of 25-27, 25-27, and 24-26. Moriah Fair led the way with 21 kills and 20 digs, her second 20-20 effort of the season, while Shari Bernhardt eclipsed 30 digs for the third time this season with 34 digs.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Valparaiso comes into the mid-week tilt with a 16-9 overall record and a 7-4 record in the Horizon League after splitting its most recent weekend matches against Loyola-Chicago and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The Crusaders boast a balanced offensive attack that features seven players averaging more than 1.75 kills per set. Among that group, Katie Britton leads the team averaging 2.73 kps,

Defensively, Valparaiso’s front-row and back-row defense average 2.24 bps and 17.73 dps, respectively.

  • Shari Bernhardt is approaching IUPUI’s all-time digs record. She needs 79 more digs to break Erin Jones’ record of 2,067 career digs. She needs just 12 more kills to become the fourth player in Summit League history to reach 2,000 digs for a career.
  • Bethany Fogler needs four more solo blocks, six more total blocks, and 11 more blocks assists to become IUPUI’s single-season leader in all three statistical categories.
