INDIANAPOLIS – Following a three-match homestand, the IUPUI volleyball team hits the road this weekend for its longest trip of the season beginning Thursday, Oct. 20 at Southern Utah, and ending on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Oral Roberts.

IUPUI currently sits alone in fourth place in the Summit League standings at 6-5, with Oakland and South Dakota right behind at 5-5 and 5-6, respectively. Southern Utah is in a tie for eighth at 3-8, while ORU sits atop the standings with a 10-1 league record.

LAST TIME OUT
The Jaguars had a big weekend against North Dakota State and South Dakota State last weekend and after falling to the Bison in four sets, IUPUI rebounded with a three-set sweep over SDSU in its annual ‘Dig Pink’ match to salvage the weekend split.

Kelsey Hoefer continued to perform at a high level combining for 34 kills in the two matches, averaging out to 4.86 kps.

Following the match against South Dakota State, Hoefer gave all the credit to her setter, Alexis Meeks.

“Alexis was moving the ball really well and she got me a lot of one-on-one attempts and it’s really important to put the ball away in those situations.” Hoefer said. “[Alexis] got our other hitters in those same situations and she just did a really good job.”

Defensively, Shari Bernhardt continued to lead the back-row defense averaging 5.86 dps, which followed her school record 44 digs in a five-set win over Oakland earlier last week. Bethany Fogler continued to give the Jags a strong block totaling nine blocks against NDSU and SDSU.
