INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI volleyball team saved their best for last.  After 12 hours of volleyball in The Jungle, the Jaguars used a stifling defensive effort to come from behind and defeat DePaul, 3-1, in their second match of the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational.  In their first win over a BCS-level institution, IUPUI won, 27-29, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20.

IUPUI (1-5) had career highs throughout the box score; Lindsey Weber led the way with a career-best 27 kills.  Seven of the points came in the fourth and decisive set, as Weber helped the Jags jump out to a nine-point lead early in the frame.

With 11 digs, Weber tallied her third career double-double and was joined by Kalyse Reimbold and Alexis Meeks as those with double-doubles.  Reimbold added 11 kills and 12 digs, while Meeks posted a career-best 46 assists to go along with 14 digs.

For the match, IUPUI tallied 87 digs, led by their libero, Shari Bernhardt, who had 33.

The defense was never more on display than in the third set, when the Jags used the defense to rally from an early 10-6 deficit.  IUPUI was behind by as many as five (13-8) before Reimbold and Weber picked up kills to spur the comeback.

After a service error put DePaul (0-5) up three, a Dana Gardner kill and Lauran Thompson ace sandwiched around a Blue Demon attack error knotted the set at 16.  The teams traded points over the next six services, before the Jaguars reeled off six straight points to wrap up the pivotal set.

Reimbold gave IUPUI the lead off a feed from Meeks, and Jessica Phelps followed by taking advantage of an errant DePaul pass to give the Jags a two-point lead.  A kill by Weber prompted a DePaul timeout, but it was to no avail, as Gardner, Reimbold and Phelps came up with kills on the service of Meeks.

Having scored the last six points of the third set, IUPUI came out red hot in the fourth, taking eight of the first 10, forcing DePaul into an early timeout.  The lead ballooned to as much as nine at 17-8 before the Blue Demons closed within five to cause a Jaguar timeout.

After the 75-second break, Gardner delivered a kill to restore order, and a Blue Demon attack error wrapped up the match and gave IUPUI their first win of the season.

Phelps had a career-high 5 blocks for the Jaguars, including a key solo block.

The Jaguars will meet Austin Peay in their third match of the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational.  The action starts at 12:30 p.m. ET from The Jungle, and Rich Coleman will have the call of the game on IUPUIJags.com.
