KANSAS CITY, MO. - Kalyse Reimbold's 13 kills and 10 digs led the IUPUI volleyball team past Summit League foe UMKC 3-1 (25-23, 10-25, 25-15, 25-20) on Thursday evening.
With the Jaguars down 10-4, chances to win the open set looked grim, (4-13, 3-3 Summit League) but the team rallied to knot the set at 12 behind two kills from Reimbold, a kill by Dana Gardner and five UMKC errors. IUPUI seperated itself from UMKC with two kills from Reimbold, one of which was a set winner, and one from Lindsey Weber.
UMKC (5-12, 2-5) took the second set handily with the help of sixteen Jaguar errors.
Eight kills from Weber in the third set put IUPUI's sloppy play to a hault in a dominating 25-15 set win. Two of her eight kills in the set came on consecutive points giving the Jaguars an insurmountable 20-13 lead.
After having little problem in the third set, UMKC was able to stay close in the beginning of the fourth set. With the score tied at six, IUPUI rattled off four straight points on kills by Reimbold and Alexis Meeks, an ace by Weber and an attack error by UMKC's Christiana McQuin. The Kangaroos never saw the lead again in the set.
Gardner finished the match off with two consecutive kills and finished the set with five.
The Jaguars will travel to Cedar City, Utah on Saturday to take on Southern Utah.
Game Notes: Meeks had a team-high 18 digs. UMKC finished the match hitting only .153.
