Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI volleyball town squared off against crosstown rival Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Tuesday night. The Jaguars couldn't overcome offensive struggles, hitting .062, in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-14) loss to the Bulldogs.

After falling behind early in the first set, Head Coach Steve Payne used both of his timeouts early. The strategy nearly worked as the Jaguars battled back, but couldn't hang on. A service error and an attack error by Butler's Jessica Wolfe and a kill by Dana Gardner allowed the Jaguars to get within a point at 19-18.

IUPUI (2-12) was able to knot the match at 20 on a kill by Moriah Fair, but gave up five of the next six points, dropping the set  25-21.

In the second set, Butler (7-6) jumped out to an 11-6 lead behind four kills from Claire Randich. A Randich blast gave Butler a 17-10 lead and the Bulldogs never looked back. The Bulldogs rattled off five straight points to take a seemingly insurmountable 22-13 lead. A Lindsay Weber kill stopped the bleeding for IUPUI.

The Jaguars were able to make it interesting fighting off six straight set points with two kills and a block by Gardner, a Kalyse Reimbold kill and two Bulldogs' attack errors before finally dropping the second set 25-21.

Kalyse Reimbold's five kills led the Jaguars in the second set.

Butler rattled off the first five points of the third set before Reimbold blasted a shot that Butler knocked out of bounds.

With the score 12-7, three attack errors and a Jessica Phelps kill got the Jaguars within one at 12-11. However, the Jaguars looked overmatched giving up 10 straight points, eventually dropping the set 25-14

Game Notes: Kortni Wright made her first collegiate appearance. Reimbold's eight kills and 10 digs were both team highs.
