INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team will open the home portion of its 2010 schedule on Friday night when they play host to Ball State at Kuntz Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the off-campus facility. Adult tickets are just $5 and admission is free to IUPUI students with a valid JagTag.
IUPUI (0-1) is looking to get off the schneid after a season-opening 2-0 loss at Eastern Illinois last weekend. Freshman
Giselle Guzman yielded a pair of goals in net in her collegiate debut while the offense was rendered punchless by the Panthers' defense. The Jaguars' best scoring chances came in the second half including an
Alex Baer corner kick the glanced off the crossbar and back into the field of play in the 82nd minute. Junior
Megan Hock also had a quality chance in the 81st minute that the EIU keeper made a great one-handed save on.
Ball State (2-0) comes in perfect under first-year Head Coach Craig Roberts, having claimed home wins over Indiana State and Xavier. BSU's three goals have come from three different scorers on the young year and sophomore goalkeeper Aubrey Buehler comes in sporting a miniscule 0.50 goals against average.
BSU leads the all-time series between the two schools 3-1-1, although Friday marks the first meeting since 2005. The visiting Cardinals won that contest, 3-1 at Kuntz.
IUPUI will cap the weekend with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at Detroit on Sunday. The Titans enter the weekend with an early 0-1 record, having lost their season-opener 3-1 at Michigan.
