The Crew became the first Major League Soccer (MLS) youth academy team to win a U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship.
"It's a great achievement on Kyle's part after battling injuries this past year," IUPUI Head Coach
Steve Franklin said. "Kyle exemplifies the type of student-athlete we want representing the Jaguars men's soccer program - a champion in every aspect."
The Crew earned a spot in the national title game by escaping from the four-team national pool earlier in the week. They opened pool play with with a scoreless tie against the Andromeda 91 Navy squad from Texas. The following day, the Crew knocked off WSM Internationals from Oregon by a 4-2 count. On Friday, the Crew earned a 1-1 tie with FC Delco, setting up a rematch in the finals.
Last summer, a trio of Jaguars earned experience by advancing to the nationals in Lancaster, Mass..
