FORT WAYNE, Ind. -  Despite 18-kill performances by Moriah Fair and Kalyse Reimbold, the Jaguars fell in a five-set thriller against IPFW (21-25, 25-18, 16-25, 25-19, 18-16) in their final road match of the season.

Things looked positive for IUPUI (7-22, 6-11 Summit League) up 13-9 in the fifth and final set, but IPFW came roaring back to tie the match with the help of two kills and two attack errors. IUPUI scored the next point on a service error, but a service error of their own knotted the set at 14. Reimbold continued her solid play, recording a kill to give the Jaguars a second match point. However, another attack error kept the Mastodons alive. Another Reimbold kill fended off IPFW's first match point but Megan Steenhuysen put the match away for the Mastodons (19-9, 13-3).

Things started better than they finished for the Jaguars.IUPUI took it to the Mastodons in the first set. After falling behind 8-5, IUPUI rattled off eight straight points with the help of five IPFW attack errors, kills by Brittany Anglemyer and Fair and an ace by Lauran Thompson. IPFW scored six straight points to get within four at 22-18, but Fair closed the set out with a kill for the Jaguars.

The Mastodons reversed their fortunes in the second set. With the set tied at 15, the Mastodons went on a 10-3 run to even the match at a set each.

IUPUI bounced back in the pivotal third set. Three straight IPFW errors helped the Jaguars to a 7-3 lead. With the score 14-10, the Jaguars pulled away by scoring six straight points. Two of the points came on Reimbold kills and another on an Anglemyer ace. The final two points were provided by a pair of kills from Fair.

The Jaguars failed to close out IPFW in the fourth set. Four straight points by the Mastodons gave IPFW a 5-1 lead. Anglemyer and Fair drove home two straight points to try to bring the Jaguars back, but another run of four straight points gave IPFW a 17-11 lead. IUPUI fought off one set point before the Mastodons closed the set out 25-19.

The Jaguars will take the court next on Saturday, November 13 against Western Illinois. It will be Senior night.
