South Dakota State (8-9, 4-5) improved in the second set. The Jackrabbits claimed an early 9-4 lead before IUPUI came roaring back behind a solid attack from Lindsey Weber, Reimbold and Gardner. Each had a kill in a 5-0 run which tied the score at nine.
IUPUI finally put some space between itself and the Jackrabbits when Thyele Rechatiko's serve went wide and Bethany Fogler put away a ball to give the Jaguars a 24-20 lead. South Dakota State was able to fight off three match points, before a Reimbold kill, one of six in the set, put the set to rest. Reimbold hit.455 for the set.
Much like the second set, IUPUI fell down early but had the resolve to come back. The set was close until the Jackrabbits self-destructed committing seven attack errors in the midst of an IUPUI 12-1 run which gave the Jaguars a 17-10 lead. Fair closed the match with two straight aces.
The Jaguars will play next against Southern Utah on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Jungle.
