INDIANAPOLIS - North Dakota State got seven service aces from Brynn Jokie and blew past the IUPUI volleyball team 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-14) in The Jungle on Friday evening.
IUPUI (4-15, 3-5 Summit) only led during the first set against the Summit League leading Bison (10-7, 7-1) and couldn't slow down Megan Lambertson who had 11 kills and hit .846 for the match.
With the score 11-10 in the first set, the Jaguars had no answer for Jokie's serves. In a stretch where the Bison scored 12 of 13 points, Jokie served 11 straight points recording four aces.
IUPUI was able to stay within striking distance of the Bison in the second set, but never took a lead. Down 10-7, the Jaguars scored three straight points on kills from
Jessica Phelps and
Bethany Fogler with a Bison attack error sandwiched in between. Fogler had another kill late in the set to get the Jaguars within two at 22-20, but a Lambertson kill and a
Moriah Fair attack error closed out the set for the Jaguars.
The Jaguars looked overmatched in the third set. North Dakota State went on a 17-5 run to seal the fate of IUPUI.
Kalyse Reimbold led the Jaguars with seven kills while Phelps added six.
IUPUI will take on South Dakota State tomorrow, Saturday Oct. ,at 7 p.m. in the Jungle.
