INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI sophomore men's soccer player Brock Brungard celebrated his 20th birthday in style as he turned in a goal and an assist in helping the Jaguars to a convincing 3-0 Summit League win over Centenary at Kuntz Stadium on Saturday. The little used reserve forward came off the bench to set up Ryan Robinson's game-winning goal in the 43rd minute and added his first collegiate goal in the 50th minute.

Sophomore Joshio Sandoval capped the scoring the 75th minute with his first career score. The win increased IUPUI's current unbeaten streak to four games. IUPUI's three goals were the most since the season-opening 3-1 win over UNC-Asheville in Lexington, Ky..

After a lackluster effort plagued the majority of the first half, IUPUI (8-6-1, 4-1 Summit) finally broke through on Robinson's second goal of the year just 2:28 before halftime. Brungard carried the ball through the teeth of the Centenary defense before sliding the ball out to Denny Moynihan on the left side. Moynihan lofted a well placed cross to Robinson, who was left unmarked just beyond the six-yard box. From there, the Michigan-native volleyed a shot past Centenary's Rennie Walker for his second game-winner of the year.

"That goal was monumental," IUPUI Head Coach Steve Franklin said. "It might be one of the most important goals we've gotten all year because we were flat. We weren't playing our best soccer at that time and you can credit Centenary for that because they brought us down to their tempo.

"For Ryan to be composed on that and get that in, took the weight off our shoulders."

The momentum clearly carried over to the second half as Brungard netted the back breaker less than five minutes into the second stanza. Junior Yogi Snider worked up the right side before sending a cross to Brungard, who was making a run on goal. Brungard headed the ball down against the grain and inside the right post for the 2-0 lead.

"As soon as (Yogi) served it, I was hoping I could get to it. He hit me perfectly in stride," Brungard said. "It feels great. I should've had a couple more, but it comes along with it. I've got to work on the finishing touch still."

IUPUI kept the heat on, outshooting Centenary (1-6-2, 0-2-2 Summit) 16-4 in the second half and 24-10 for the match. The final margin came when Andrew Fuchs rolled a pass back through the box, leading to Sandoval's strike from 14 yards out. Six different Jags contributed at least a point on Saturday with five of IUPUI's seven points coming off the bench.

"It shows our depth a little bit, but it also allowed us to reward some of the kids that have been working hard. Today's result was very important because had we lost today and next weekend, we might not have made (the conference tournament)," Franklin said. "The result itself wasn't in our total control until probably Joshio put that goal in."

Brungard and Tyler Thatcher led IUPUI with four shot attempts as 12 different Jags got off at least one try.

"Brock came in in the first half and provided that spark," Franklin said. "He looked like a lightning bolt out there. All of a sudden, everybody else picked their game up. I was really excited to see that he got rewarded for his effort."

Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Alex Mannen ran his current scoreless streak to more than 208 straight minutes. The 6-foot-5 netminder needed just two saves for his second straight shutout on Saturday.

"Sometimes when there's a change, it forces everyone to refocus and mentally stay more alert," Franklin said. "To Alex's credit, you haven't really seen him become rattled. He's calm back there. It helps that we have some leadership back there and the unsung hero is Wes Hawkins. He has the touch of a butcher sometimes, but he keeps everyone steady and where they need to be."

As part of its third annual 'Kick for the Cure', IUPUI auctioned off its pink jerseys during the match and raised nearly $2,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Title sponsor Richard Mann joined the Jaguars on the field after the match for a team photo.

"You have to take note of Richard Mann being the title sponsor for the third straight year," Franklin said. "We told the guys to look at and understand the color of the shirt you're wearing today and understand the meaning behind it. I commend the guys and I think they did it with class today."

Fans still wishing to win a jersey can bid on the #15 Sandoval, #2 Ian Munro and #25 Mason Cassady jerseys by clicking here. Bidding will close at midnight on Tuesday, Oct. 26.

IUPUI will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 26 when the Jaguars host Wright State in non-conference action. The match is slated to kickoff at Kuntz Stadium at 7:00 p.m..
