TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Holding a 7-2 record in their last nine matches against in-state foes, the IUPUI volleyball team will look to back on the winning path when they take on the Indiana State Sycamores on Tuesday evening. The match will begin at 7 p.m. ET from the ISU Arena.
IUPUI (10-4) suffered through a tough weekend in the Dakotas, going 0-2 in conference matches at North Dakota State and South Dakota State. Meanwhile, Indiana State (5-10) went 1-1 in Missouri Valley Conference action, defending their home court against Drake.
All five of the Sycamores' victories have come at ISU Arena, where Indiana State holds a 5-5 overall mark.
The Jaguars will look to jump start an offense that struggled for much of the weekend but still ranks among the top of The Summit League. Both
Kalyse Reimbold and
Monica Suding have passed the 100-kill mark already this season, while Suding's .287 hitting percentage is seventh in the conference.
Just as they did a year ago, IUPUI easily leads The Summit in digging and will rely on their back row to overcome an ISU attack that is hitting at a .190 clip.
Shari Bernhardt leads the Jaguars' back row, averaging 4.58 digs per set.
Since the start of the 2008 season, the Jaguars have defeated in-state opponents Butler (twice), IPFW (twice), Ball State, Evansville, and Indiana State. IUPUI swept the Sycamores, 3-0, in 2008 on their way to a runner-up finish in the Tiger Invitational.
