PEORIA, Ill. -- The IUPUI volleyball team will look to get their 2009 season off on the right foot when they compete in the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational on the campus of Bradley University. The Jaguars will open the season with a match versus Lehigh at 9 a.m. CT, followed by their second match of the day when they face Chicago State at 2 p.m..
IUPUI, who led the NCAA in digs in 2008, returns six starters to last season's 16-15 squad. With a 9-7 Summit League mark, the Jaguars returned to the conference tournament for the ninth time in 10 seasons.
Success in tournament play was a key to IUPUI's plus-.500 record in 2008, as the Jaguars finished runner-up at both the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational and at the Tiger Invitational, hosted by the University of Memphis.
After playing two games on Friday, the Jags will take on USC-Upstate at 2 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a possible championship finale versus host Bradley at 7 p.m..
