SHREVEPORT, La. - The IUPUI women's soccer team snapped its two-game skid with a 3-1 win over Centenary at Mayo Field on Sunday. With the win, Head Coach Chris Johnson's team tied the program record for most wins in a season, set last season.

"We came to play today," Johnson said. "We came out ready from the very beginning. We were winning balls in the midfield and (Centenary) didn't have anything dangerous at all in the first half."

Junior Natalie Holland helped create IUPUI's first goal of the game, drawing a foul at the top of the 18-yard box in the 19th minute. Senior Katrina McCrory capitalized on the chance as her free kick redirected off a Centenary (9-5-1, 1-4-1 Summit) defender and past goalkeeper Kate Donnelly for her sixth score of the season.

Despite outshooting the Ladies 9-3 in the first half, the Jaguars were only able to score once in the first half.

"We had some other quality opportunities. Megan Hock had a breakaway and Chelsi McHenry had a nice shot that their keeper pushed wide."

IUPUI (13-4, 5-2 Summit) wasted little time in the second half adding insurance as sophomore Alex Baer netted the eventual game-winner just 26 seconds deep into play. Sophomore Stacy Levack played a restart from near midfield inside the 18-yard box to Hock. Hock then advanced the ball to Baer who slid a shot into the right corner of the goal for her second tally of the season.

"Alex did a great job all day," Johnson said. "She did a nice job of being where she needed to be and giving great effort."

Centenary cut the lead back to 2-1 in the 80th minute on a Katie Valdez strike, but IUPUI's Leslie Walker immediately answered. The senior midfielder carried the ball nearly half the field before scoring on a shot from eight yards out. She maneuvered through three defenders on the carry before tallying her first goal of the season.

"Leslie really worked hard all day," Johnson said. "Everyone gave great effort and we never really let Centenary get traction. We got back to moving the ball around on the ground like we're capable of doing and creating chances."

IUPUI outshot the Ladies 15-10 and had five more corner kicks than the hosts. Senior goalkeeper Jamie Farrell made four saves in goal while Donnelly had five for Centenary.

The Jaguars will now return home for its final two home games of the season, beginning against Oakland on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the on-campus Carroll Stadium.
