INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI volleyball team will take their stout defense to Hinkle Fieldhouse on Tuesday night, facing off against Butler University at 6 p.m., in a battle for collegiate supremacy in the Circle City. The Jaguars are fourth in the nation in digs per set with 18.26.
IUPUI (6-5) will be looking to snap a three-match losing streak following an 0-3 weekend at the InnTowner Invitational on the campus of the University of Wisconsin. Still, the Jaguars will rely on one of the country's top back rows, as
Chelsea Bastin,
Shari Bernhardt,
Rachel Holmes and
Danielle Goodnight are all listed among the nation's top diggers.
Goodnight is also among the NCAA's assist leaders, placing 91st in the country with 9.79 assists per set. Nearly 1-in-3 of those assists have gone to
Lauran Thompson, who is averaging a team-leading 3.14 kills per set.
Butler (10-1) has built an impressive record in the early part of the season, winning their last 9 matches after falling to Summit League member Oral Roberts, 3-0, on Aug. 30. Three Bulldogs are averaging over 3.05 kills per set.
