INDIANAPOLIS -- Honoring the IUPUI Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2008, the IUPUI women's basketball team will looking to continue their climb in The Summit League, hosting UMKC at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

IUPUI (9-12, 5-4 Summit) will also honor 2008 IUPUI Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee Tiffany Kyser during the game, along with fellow inductees Natalie Bednar and Ben Higginbotham.  Kyser, who starred for IUPUI from 1999-2003, became the first women's basketball player to have her number retired (men's basketball player Carlos Knox is the other).

Kyser closed her career as one of the elite players in the women’s basketball program’s history, ranking first in career rebounds (874), second in points (1,544) and sixth in steals (200). Her senior year, she was named a National Finalist for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award, while also collecting the Mid-Con Scholar Athlete of the Year, Mid-Con Player of the Year and Mid-Con Defensive Player of the Year Awards. She was a three-time First Team All Mid-Con selection and averaged better than eight rebounds per game in each of her final three seasons, while leading the team in scoring as a sophomore and senior. Her 18.0 points per game average as a senior is the highest mark in the program’s Division I history.

She becomes the sixth former women’s basketball player to earn induction into the Hall of Fame.

The 2007-08 edition of the women's basketball team will be looking to pick up the season sweep of UMKC (9-11, 2-7 Summit) after rallying for a 56-51 win over the Kangaroos on Jan. 7.  In that game, the Jaguars overcame a nine-point second-half deficit to pick up their first Summit League win of the year.

Nicole James had a career-high 18 points in the win, while Julia Whitted and Christina Cunningham pitched in 11 and 10, respectively.  Crisp ball movement helped the Jags as well, as they picked up 16 assists on their 20 baskets.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2008 will also be honored during the men's game, which will begin approximately 30 minutes after the women's game.

Tickets are available for both contests, and can be purchased by calling (317) 274-5453.  The games can also be viewed online, via SummitTV.  Scott McCauley will be on-air for both contests, which can be seen at www.thesummitleague.org.
