NATION'S TOP BACK ROW LEADS FOURTH-SEEDED JAGS TO TULSA

IUPUI will take on No. 1 seed North Dakota State at 7:30 CT on Friday

TULSA, Okla. -- Leading the nation with 18.57 digs per set, the IUPUI volleyball team will look for their defense to lead the way as they enter The Summit League Volleyball Tournament.  The No. 4 seed in the four-team tournament, IUPUI will take on No. 1 seed North Dakota State at 7:30 p.m. CT Friday night from the Cooper Aerobics Center on the campus of Oral Roberts University.

IUPUI (16-15, 9-7 Summit) has led all NCAA Division I institutions in digs for the entire season, while their 2,191 digs on the year are the most in the nation.  The Jags' back row is led by senior libero Chelsea Bastin, who has tallied 527 digs on the year, the fifth-most in IUPUI single-season history.  Bastin ranks 70th in the nation with 4.47 digs per set.

Eight Jaguars - Bastin, Shari Bernhardt (392), Rachel Holmes (357), Danielle Goodnight (325), Monica Suding (120), Kalyse Reimbold (120), Lauran Thompson (115) and Hillary Houston (109) - all have 100 or more digs, the most players with 100 or more in school history.

IUPUI's 16 wins are their most since the 2003 season, and they have had three players honored by The Summit as their player of the week.  Bastin earned Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 8, while Reimbold received Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 27.  Goodnight was the most recent recipient of the Offensive Player of the Week award on Nov. 17.

Goodnight's 1,163 assists are the eighth-most in school history, while her 10.29 assists per set rank first in the conference and 72nd in the country.

On the offensive side of the net, IUPUI has featured a balanced attack, led by Reimbold, who averages 3.28 kills per set.  In conference play, Reimbold stepped up her game, posting 3.73 kills per set to rank second in The Summit.

Six Jaguars - Reimbold, Bernhardt (237), Ashley Johnson (186), Thompson (186), Suding (178) and Dana Gardner (167) - all have over 100 digs, helping IUPUI average 12.89 kills per set.

North Dakota State (22-3, 16-0 Summit), was the fifth team in Summit League history to complete the round-robin league schedule undefeated and the first team since 2004.  The Bison own the nation's sixth-highest winning percentage (.880) and rank third in digs per set (18.29), 13th in assists (13.25) and 16th in kills (14.23).
