IUPUI MEN’S SOCCER TEAM EARNS NSCAA/ADIDAS MIDWEST REGIONAL RANKING

Jaguars enter regional polls for first time since 2004

10/27/2008 1:13:46 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men’s soccer team cracked the NSCAA/adidas Midwest Regional polls for the first time this season, coming in at the No. 10 spot this week. The Jaguars currently own a 7-6-2 overall record and 2-2 mark in Summit League play.

IUPUI is one of four Summit League teams currently among the rankings.

Head Coach Steve Franklin’s team was last regionally ranked during the 2004 season. That year the Jaguars opened the season 7-1 and spent five weeks among the Great Lakes Region’s top 10.

This season, five of the Jaguars’ six losses have come against teams that have been nationally ranked during the season. IUPUI is 5-1-1 on its home field this year and is allowing just over one goal per game. Franklin’s team wraps up its home schedule on Tuesday night when it hosts Wright State at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and that match can been viewed over the internet as part of the IUPUI LIVE! subscription service on IUPUIJags.com.

This Saturday, IUPUI returns to Summit League play when it travels to Tulsa, Okla. to take on Oral Roberts.
