ROCHESTER, Mich. - The IUPUI women's soccer team reeled off three unanswered goals to record its first-ever win at Oakland, 3-1 on Friday afternoon. Entering play, the Jaguars had never won in Rochester and scored just one goal in the previous five trips.

"We've said in order to be a championship team, you have to knock off the queen," IUPUI Head Coach Chris Johnson said. "All year long, we've talked about rather than letting the game come to us, we needed to take it to the other team.

"This was a great win. It's a great win for our program."

A day of jubilation got off to a relatively slow start though as IUPUI (7-5-0, 3-1-0) allowed a soft goal in the game's 35th minute.  Some indecision by junior goalkeeper Jamie Farrell allowed OU's Sarah Lynch to score a breakaway goal. Lynch beat Farrell to a loose ball and lofted a shot off the crossbar and into the net.

However, IUPUI wasted little time in pulling even.

Freshman Megan Hock drew a foul lin Oakland (3-8-2, 2-1-0) territory, setting up a free kick. Sophomore Natalie Holland served the restart inside the box where Leslie Walker netted her second header of the season.

It stayed tied until the 62nd minute when freshman Alicia Brock showed why she's among the most dangerous forwards in The Summit. Senior Lindsey Warfield played a long feed in behind OU's back row, allowing Brock to get in behind the defense. From there, the 5-foot-9 rookie beat OU goalkeeper Kim Herbst for her sixth score of the year and her second game-winner.

IUPUI added insurance in the 70th minute when Hock netted her third goal of the year off an assist from fellow rookie Alison Smith. It was Smith's team-high third assist of the season.

"We were faster than their backs and we did a good job of getting in behind them," Johnson said. "And we made the most of our chances."

Despite being outshot 17-8, IUPUI scored on all three attempts on frame. Farrell made five saves to improve to 7-5 on the season.

"Jamie's the best goalkeeper I've ever coached," Johnson said. "I got on her a bit after the goal. I was hot about that one, but she played well other than that."

The win sends the Jaguars into second place in The Summit, behind just South Dakota State, which sits at 4-0. IUPUI's three league wins already ties the single-season school record. The Jaguars conclude the weekend with a non-conference tilt at Cleveland State on Sunday.

"Hopefully we'll keep it rolling and come back home 8-5," Johnson said.
