TOLEDO, Ohio -- Senior Devika Bellamy was named to the Clarion Hotel Westgate Rocket Classic All-Tournament Team as IUPUI dropped their final match of the tournament, 3-0, to Xavier University.

IUPUI (2-2) was led by Bellamy, who had a team-best 16 kills in the match, finishing the tournament with 59 kills and a .301 hitting percentage.

Senior Carol Newell contributed 14 kills and attacked at a .394 clip for the Jaguars, but Xavier proved too strong, winning 24-30, 16-30, 25-30.

Xavier (4-0) used an early 4-0 run to open an advantage in the first game and held the Jags at bay, eventually leading by six points at 20-14. IUPUI and Xavier alternated points from that point on, with the Musketeers taking the first game, 30-24.

Despite the fact the Jaguars hit ..389 in the first game, Xavier hit .548 to claim the game.

The Musketeers came out strong in the second game, taking a 9-3 advantange and extending their lead throughout to win, 30-16. Xavier hit .429 in the second game, recording 17 kills in 25 chances while holding the Jaguars to a .059 hitting mark.

Still, the Jaguars battled back in the third game, battling Xavier throughout. With the score tied at 12, Xavier was able to win three straight points, taking control of the game. IUPUI rallied to close the gap to 20-19, but Xavier pushed across the next two points and controlled the match, eventually winning, 30-25.

Bellamy finished the game with a double-double, tallying 16 kills and 13 assists along with six digs. Sophomore Danielle Goodnight led the team with 21 assists, while junior Chelsea Bastin chipped in 10 digs.

IUPUI will face off against in-state rival Evansville on Wednesday, August 29 at 7 p.m. CST from the Carson Center.
