10/6/2007 2:21:15 PM

FORT WAYNE, Ind.. -- After falling the previous night at Oakland, the IUPUI women's volleyball team dropped their third straight match, losing 1-3 at IPFW from the Hilliard Gates Sports Center on Saturday night.

Senior Devika Bellamy posted her second consecutive triple-double with 11 kills, 13 assists and 18 digs, but the Jaguars fell, 29-31, 25-30, 30-24, 28-30.

Sophomore Danielle Goodnight assisted on 44 IUPUI points while contributing 25 digs. Goodnight's dig total was matched by junior Chelsea Bastin, while senior Carol Newell had 20 kills for the Jaguars.

IUPUI (9-12, 2-6 Summit) dropped their second match of the weekend in similar fashion after falling in four game the previous night.

In the first game against IPFW, the Jaguars fell behind early before rallying to take a 19-16 lead off of a kill by sophomore Ashley Johnson. Coming out of a Mastodon timeout, IPFW cut the deficit to one at 24-25 before taking the lead at 30-29 after an IUPUI attack error. An IPFW kill gave the Mastodons the first game.

Again, the Jaguars trailed early in the second game, but this time, they were not able to rally against IPFW (11-8, 5-3 Summit). Trailing 18-17, the Jaguars allowed IPFW to go on a 6-1 run to take control of the game, where they won, 30-25.

Down two games to none, IUPUI cut their deficit in half with a win in game three. With the game knotted at eight, the Jaguars went on a 8-1 run to go up 16-9 after a kill by sophomore Hillary Houston.

While IPFW cut the deficit to four, a kill by Newell pushed the lead back to five at 25-20, where the Jaguars comfortably won, 30-24.

Needing to win to force a fifth and deciding game, the Jaguars were not able to come up with the needed points to win. Leading early at 9-5, IUPUI surrendered a 13-7 Mastodon run, creating an 18-16 deficit.

The Jaguars rallied to tie the game at 22, but two straight IPFW points forced IUPUI to burn their last timeout. The Mastodons continued their run, pushing the lead to five before IUPUI closed to within 27-25 following two IPFW attack errors.

However, three Mastodon kills around two IUPUI points gave IPFW the game and match.

IUPUI will look to stop the losing skid next Friday, October 12, when they will host former Mid-Continent Conference foe Valparaiso. The action will begin at 7 p.m. in The Jungle and will be followed the men's and women's basketball teams Jaguar Jamboree.
