SHREVEPORT, La. - IUPUI head women's soccer coach Chris Johnson recorded his 100th career coaching win on Friday night as his Jaguars outlasted Centenary, 1-0 on the road. Johnson won 81 matches over nine seasons at the University of Indianapolis before taking over the IUPUI program in 2003.

The game was the Mid-Continent Conference opener for both squads.

It marked the team's fourth shutout of the season and the second in a row by freshman goalkeeper Jamie Farrell.

Sophomore forward Emily Hicks provided all the offense IUPUI (4-2-1, 1-0-0 Mid-Con) would need in the game's 24th minute. Junior Sheri Levack, dribbled the ball across the top of the 18-yard box before laying a pass off to Hicks.

Hicks then touched to her left before whipping a shot back to the right, beating CC (2-6-0, 0-1-0 Mid-Con) goalkeeper Ali Hilsher for her second goal of the season and first career game-winner.

It was Levack's team-high third assist of the season as she is now just one shy of tying the school's career record of 11.

IUPUI kept the heat on for most of the match, including a couple of tries from Jen Scorniaenchi that tested Hilsher.

Defensively, IUPUI's back four helped thwart the Ladies' attack as Farrell needed just two saves to run her record to 4-0-0 on the year.

"There wasn't a lot of real dangerous (offensive) stuff on their part," Johnson said. "We got a lot of good play out of everybody as a whole. "

"J.J. King was sick going into the game, but did a great job of keeping everybody together in the back. It was sort of a Michael Jordan kind of effort from her."

Hicks led the IUPUI attack with three shots, including two on goal. Brittany O'Neal had three tries off the bench for the hosts in the loss.

The win was IUPUI's third in the past four matches. IUPUI will take to the field next Friday when they trek to Dayton, Ohio to face Wright State. Game time is 7:00 p.m..
