Adam Petersen joined the IUPUI Athletics Department in June 2023 with the media relations team. He spent the previous year working in sports information at his alma mater, Southern Virginia University, in Buena Vista, Va. While at SVU, he assisted in all facets of covering Knights Athletics, serving as primary contact for baseball, men's basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, rugby, men's soccer, softball, swimming and diving, men's volleyball and wrestling.
Prior to becoming full-time at Southern Virginia, he assisted the department in various roles, including being the lead color commentator for Knights Broadcasting, the university's athletic streaming platform.Â
During his time as a student, Petersen was a part of both the men's golf and lacrosse programs.
After receiving a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Southern Virginia University in December of 2020, Petersen joined the university's wellness department. Over the next year and a half he filled many roles within the department, including overseeing the COVID testing of all student-athletes.Â
He and his wife Sydney, also a Southern Virginia graduate, reside in Indianapolis as Sydney is attending Dental School on the IUPUI campus.Â
