Bob Kouril joined the IUPUI women's soccer program's coaching staff in the Spring 2013 and will focus his time on training goalkeepers. Kouril brings more than 15 years of college coaching and training experience and presently works with Carmel United Soccer Club.
Kouril's coaching career began in 1990 at Butler University where he was an assistant with both the men's and women's programs. He later took over as the men's soccer Head Coach at the University of Indianapolis in 1996 and remained with the Greyhounds until 2004. He helped UIndy to its first-ever national rankings, climbing as high as No. 4 in the adidas/NCAA Division I polls in 1999. Nine of his players earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors and had 18 earn Academic All-GLVC accolades. Ten of his players were All-Region players.
While at UIndy, he also coached the Premier Development League (PDL) Sioux Falls Spitfire during the summers, helping guide the Spitfire to a 20-3-1 record.
His most recent head coaching experience was a four-year stint at the girls varsity coach at Lawrence North High School. Kouril has been on the staffs at summer camps at Notre Dame, Tennessee, Butler and Indiana.
Kouril holds multiple coaching licenses from the NSCAA and the International Licence of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).
Originally, from Heidelberg, Germany, Kouril played for three different German club teams before coming to the U.S.. He later played on Indiana's 1982 National Championship soccer team and earned his B.S. in Kinesiology from the School of Health, PE and Recreation.
After graduation, Kouril worked for the U.S. Army in Heidelberg for the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Engineer, receiving three Department of the Army Letters of Commendation.
