Former Marquette standout Cassie Peller is in her first season as an Assistant Coach with the IUPUI women's cross country program. Peller was a member of Marquette's 2004 Conference USA cross country championship team and earned All-BIG EAST honors as a sophomore in 2005. She was named the Conference USA Indoor Track Freshman of the Year following her first season.
She competed in back-to-back NCAA Cross Country Championship Meets in 2004 and 2005.
Her senior year, she posted Marquette's best times in the mile and 800m run during indoor season and was a member of MU's school record setting distance medley relay team on Feb. 23. She was runner-up in the mile at the BIG EAST Championships, finishing less than a second shy of the tape.
During the outdoor season, she qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional Meet in the 1,500m race and was a member of the school record setting 4x800m relay team that also captured a BIG EAST title.
The Valparaiso, Ind.-native also holds the school's indoor record in the 1,000m run and personally holds three of the program's freshman records. She earned her B.S. in Physiological Sciences in 2008 and currently attends the IU School of Medicine on the IUPUI campus.
Peller prepped at Chesterton High School and was a two-time All-State honoree in cross country. On the track, she was on back-to-back 4x800 state championship teams including setting a state record in that event.
