Former IUPUI runner Becca Downs joined the Jaguars' staff as a volunteer assistant prior to the 2020 season. Downs, who ran at IUPUI from 2009-2013, has continued her running career, ranging from 5K's to ultras, road races and trail running. She won her first ultra, the 2018 Huff 50K, in a time of 4:05 and ran a time of 2:57 in the 2017 Monumental Marathon. She also claimed an age group title at the 2018 Indianapolis Monumental Marathon 5K, running a time of 18:22.Â
As a collegiate runner, she was named Second Team Academic All-District as a senior and was the team's top performer in the 5,000m and 10,000m events her final season. She closed her career with the school record in the 10K at 37:45.26 and a personal best 5K time of 18:08.79. She was twice recognized among IUPUI's Top 100 students and was a two-time team captain.Â
Downs has also taught high school English and served as a high school cross country and track coach before joining the IUPUI staff.Â
