Kortney Dunbar a native from Edwardsville, Ill. enters her third season as an assistant coach for the IU Indy women's basketball program.
During the 2021-2022 season, Dunbar held the title of Director of Recruiting for Women’s Basketball at the University of Arizona. In her first season in Tucson, Dunbar was on staff to witness Arizona eclipse the 20-win mark for a fourth consecutive season for the first time in program history while hosting and playing in the NCAA Tournament in McKale Center for the first time since 1998. Arizona reached its highest regular season AP ranking at #4. The program continued its defensive prowess ranking second in the Pac-12 in scoring defense, third in defensive rebounding, second in steals and first in turnover margin.
From 2018-2020, Dunbar worked at Vanderbilt University with the Women’s Basketball program as a Graduate Assistant Coach. Inducted into the 2020 WBCA “So You Want To Be A Coach” program, her main responsibilities included overseeing student managers, assisting with recruiting efforts, organizing travel responsibilities, implementing social media strategies, and creating scouting reports. Dunbar earned her Master’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Between 2014-2018, Dunbar was a student-athlete for the University of Tennessee Women’s Basketball team. In this role, Dunbar helped lead the Lady Vols to a regular season SEC Championship (2015) and two Elite-8 appearances (2015, 2016). During her stint, she was recognized academically hosting a 3.7 GPA earning her the Chancellor’s Citation for Outstanding Scholar Athlete award, the Extraordinary Academic Achievement award, as well as SEC Academic Honor Roll (2014-2018).
Dunbar graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S in Sports Management and Business in 2018.
