Joel Chalkley enters his third year as an Assistant Coach and was promoted to full-time duties in July 2011. In his first two years on staff, the Jaguars clawed their way into a spot in the four-team Summit League Tournament and boasted five all-league performers. The 2010 year was highlighted by both Jeff Keyler and Perez Agaba earning All-Region accolades and the former being named Summit League Newcomer of the Year.
Agaba continued to pile on the accolades, earning First Team Academic All-America honors and The Summit League's Male Student-Athlete of the Year award.
Before coming to IUPUI, Chalkley spent two years as an assistant coach at crosstown Marian College and he previously worked with the Fishers Soccer Club.
He has previously worked with Noblesville United SC for two years and spent five years prior to that with the Indy Burn. He also served a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Warren Central High School and is a longtime assistant camp director of the Screaming Eagles Soccer Academy.
Chalkley began his college playing career at IUPUI in 2000 before playing his final three seasons with the club team at Indiana State. His international experience includes having played on a French Youth Tour and Dutch Youth Tour as a prep, while he’s coached touring teams in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Liverpool, England.
He earned an NSCAA Premier Diploma in the summer of 2010 and also holds a USSF National Youth License.
Chalkley will assist in all facets of the program including tactical training, individual instruction, team travel and recruiting.
