Max Miller

Max Miller joined the IUPUI staff in November 2012, coming from Syracuse University where he worked with the Orange football program from July 2011-October 2012. As Director of Basketball Academics, Miller will work exclusively with the men's and women's hoops programs in academic support services.

While at Syracuse, the Orange had a school-record 28 student-athletes named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Miller implemented a comprehensive, objective-based study hall program, immediately boosting the team's cumulative grade point average.

Prior to his year at Syracuse, Miller spent more than four years at Purdue working with the football program. While with the Boilermakers, Miller improved the GPA of the football team to an all-time high. He also made considerable strides with the program in the improvement of its Academic Progress Rate score, which measures graduation, retention and eligibility rates of each Division I team. During his time at the school, Miller helped get Purdue’s APR to the best in program history, while developing an APR Improvement Plan and a Football Academic Advisor Procedure Manual.

Miller earned a degree in elementary education from Purdue University in 2002, where he was an offensive guard for the Boilermakers. Miller was a Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Academic All-Big Ten Team. In 2005, he earned a Master’s degree in physical education and sports administration from Ball State University. He is a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics and the United Way Big Brothers Program.

Miller and his wife, Jill, have two sons, Riley and Jax.
