Tony Wills

Indianapolis-native Tony Wills joined the IU Indy coaching staff in Summer 2024, joining the Jaguars after spending the 2023-24 season at UIC.

Wills started his coaching career at SIU in 2022-23, helping the Salukis outperform preseason expectations. Despite returning just three players from the year prior, SIU won 10 games in Missouri Valley Conference play - the most ever by a program picked to finish last in the league's preseason poll. SIU ran 10 straight home games and had a seven-game conference winning streak, both of which were the most by the program since 2007. The Salukis led the Valley with a 62.2 points per game scoring defense, which ranked among the top-15 nationally.

SIU freshman Marcus Domask was the league's Freshman and Newcomer of the Year, as well as second team All-MVC. Domask was also named a freshman All-American and was one of four freshmen in the nation to average 13.5 points, five rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

While at UIC in 2023-24, he helped Flames guard Toby Okani to a spot on the five-player Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive Team after leading the league in blocked shots (2.03 bpg) and ranking seventh in steals (1.45 spg). The Flames also won an opening round thriller over SIU in the MVC Tournament.

Wills was a defensive standout of his own at Illinois State, making 71 career starts in a Redbird uniform. As a senior in 2016-17, he started 32 games for a 28-7 Redbird squad that won a share of the MVC regular-season title with a 17-1 league record. Wills was named to the MVC's All-Defensive team after the season.

Wills starred at nearby Ben Davis High School, earning honorable mention all-state honors following his senior season.
