Jason Quarles

Jason Quarles joined the IUPUI Athletics staff in September 2015 as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach and will work specifically with the men's basketball and golf programs. Quarles, an Indianapolis-native, was a 7th round pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2004 MLB Draft.

A right-handed pitcher, Quarles was ranked as the No. 7 prospect in the Pirates organization going into the 2006 season after being named Most Improved Player in 2005.

After his professional baseball career ended in 2007, Quarles returned home to work with student-athletes at Indianapolis Metropolitan High School. He later worked in the Toronto Blue Jays organization as a minor league strength and conditioning coach, while also working for the Indianapolis-based Dugan's Sports Performance.

Quarles began his college career at Glen Oaks Community College before attending Southern University in Baton Rouge, La.. He earned his Bachelor's degree from IUPUI in 2012 in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.

He is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He's also a registered Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).Â
