Isaac Loechle joined the IUPUI basketball staff in July 2018 as Director of Operations and was promoted to assistant coach in the summer of 2019. Before IUPUI, Loechle was an assistant coach at Adrian (Mich.) College from 2016-18.Â
In his first season with the Jags' program, Loechle helped IUPUI to 16 wins, marking the program's highest total since winning 19 times in 2010-11. In addition, the Jaguars qualified for postseason play for just the third time in the Division I era (1998-present), earning a spot in the CIT before falling on the road at Marshall, 78-73.Â
In his first season at Adrian, he assisted in the development of All-MIAA selection Justin Webster. In year two, he assisted in one of the best win-loss turnarounds in Adrian College history, going from 7-18 to 17-9 for a 3rd place finish in the MIAA as the Bulldogs made a conference tournament appearance for the first time in five years. Adrian opened the year 13-2 for the best start in program history, including a win over No. 3 Wisconsin-Whitewater. Adrian climbed to eighth in the Great Lakes D3 Regional Rankings while also receiving votes for the D3hoops.com Top 25. He also served as academic coordinator, helping the Bulldogs to three consecutive semesters with a team grade point average of 3.0 or better.Â
Prior to coming to Adrian, he was an assistant coach at 2016 NAIA National Runner-Up University of Saint Francis (Ind.), for a short stint that spring and summer. His responsibilities included player development and camp and recruiting coordinator. In 2015, he was the Varsity Assistant Coach and Head JV Coach at Cathedral High School, working with former IUPUI staffer Andy Fagan. He was involved in all aspects of the program including skill development, where he worked daily with several high-level NCAA Division I players. He also helped conduct all youth camps, was in charge of film breakdown and exchange and opponent scouting.
Loechle owned his own basketball training business for five years, Train To Perform, which focused on skill development for players of all ages from youth to college to professional level players. He also coached AAU basketball for five years. He founded the Indiana Legends AAU Program, which established itself as a top program in the state of Indiana and sent players to every collegiate level through the Legends program.
The Greensburg, Ind.-native played collegiately at Trine University and Anderson University while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in exercise science from Anderson.
