Eric Allen enters his second season on Head Coach Ron Hunter's IUPUI basketball staff and his first focusing on the student-athletes' strength and conditioning. He served as an Assistant Coach during the 2007-08 campaign before sliding to his current position during the summer of 2008. He previously replaced Joseph Price, who took an assistant coaching position at Ball State. 

Previously, Allen served as the Varsity Head Coach at Indianapolis Manual High School, helping the Redskins to one of the largest improvements in the state in 2004-05. As one of the youngest head coaches in all of IHSAA Class 4A, Allen helped Manual improve from 3-17 to 11-11 in his first season. In 2005-06, Allen guided the Redskins to an 11-10 mark, the program's best winning percentage in nearly two decades. 

Allen was the Freshman Head Coach at Manual for three years before spending the 2003-04 season as an Assistant Varsity Coach at Southport High School. 

He earned his B.S. in Business-Marketing from Indiana in 1998 and his B.A. in Business Education from the University of Indianapolis in 2001. He later received his Master's degree in School Counseling from Indiana State in 2005. 

A 1995 graduate of Indianapolis Roncalli High School, Allen was picked the basketball team's Mental Attitude Award winner his senior season. 

"We're happy to add Coach Allen to our staff," Hunter said. "He's eager to make his mark on our program and to help us return to the NCAA Tournament. He knows the game and relates well to the student-athletes, so he's going to be a tremendous addition to our program."

Allen, who served as a special assistant to Hunter in 2006-07, will also continue to assist in the day-to-day operations of the program and academic oversight. He will continue to oversee the Ron Hunter Basketball Camps and serve as a primary liaison for community service initiatives.
