INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis women's soccer team will embark on a pair of stiff tests this week as the Jaguars host Bellarmine to Carroll Stadium on Thursday night (Sept. 3) before heading north to face Notre Dame on Sunday (Sept. 6). The Jaguars enter play on the heels of their first win of the season as they cruised past Chicago State at Carroll Stadium over the weekend, 3-0. Senior Caroline Kelley scored the game-winning goal and added an assist while juniors Bethany Hartigan and Annaliese Black also scored in the victory. 

Defensively, the Jaguars (1-2-1) posted their first clean sheet of the season as Isabel Oferosky and Sofia Rodriguez combined on a shutout. The Cougars were limited to just four shot attempts and Hartigan was ultimately named the #HLWSOC Defensive Player of the Week for her work in the defensive third. 

Junior speedster Keilah Muldrow leads the IU Indy attack with a pair of goals while senior Lindsey Castillo is tops on the team with two assists. Oferosky has ascended to the No. 1 keeper spot and recorded a 1.20 goals against average with 17 saves in her four appearances. 

The Jaguars attempted a school record 38 shots against Chicago State as Black attempted 10 off the bench, putting five on target. Kelley had five attempts and Maci Sammons had four tries in just 36 minutes. 

QUOTABLE
"We talked before the game, especially her. She's just, you know, she's hit, she's hit it to the keeper. She's hit the post, the crossbar, every which way, but in the back of the net. We talked about the importance of her setting the tone. She was able to do that. Then she had an assist. To walk away with a goal and assist today for her, I'm super excited just knowing that, you know, she's just starting to really catch a stride here hopefully this just leads to bigger things from her," head coach Angela Berry White said of Caroline Kelley after the CSU win. 

SCOUTING BELLARMINE
Bellarmine is 0-2-1 to start the season, having played all three contests on the road. The lone positive result was a 1-1 draw at Indiana on Aug. 21. Ella Flynn has Bellarmine's lone score of the season, having tallied from the penalty spot in the draw at IU. In goal, Anna Jenkins has played all 270 minutes and recorded a 1.33 goals against average and 15 saves. Bellarmine has been outscored 4-1 in three games and been outshot by nearly 15 attempts per contest. 

AGAINST THE KNIGHTS
IU Indy is 1-0-1 all-time against Bellarmine, winning the most recent matchup 3-0 on the road on Aug. 24, 2023. Current senior Caroline Kelley scored a pair of goals in that contest and Hannah Roberson assisted on the game-winner. 

SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
Notre Dame is 1-0-4 through five matches and 1-0-2 on their home turf. Lily Joseph leads the Irish with four goals and a team-high 25 shot attempts. In goal, Sonoma Kasica has played the majority of the minutes with a 1.00 goals against average and 13 saves in three appearances. Notre Dame has outshot opponents by more than 11 shots per game and outscored foes 7-4 on the season. 

AGAINST THE IRISH
IU Indy is 0-2 all-time against Notre Dame, having faced the Irish in each of their NCAA Tournament appearances. The Jaguars lost both matches on the road by identical 5-0 scores. The two programs haven't met in women's soccer since the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
