INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy men's and women's swim and dive teams kicked off the Horizon League Championships tonight with the 200 medley relay, women's 3-meter dive and the 800 free relay. The Jags earn two top finishes on day one.
The night started with the 200 medley relay. The women's relay team of
Addy Hirsbrunner,
Victoria Surdyka,
Dani Stemper and
Luca McGee took second place with a time of 1:40.52. Then the men's team of
Grayson Tidwell,
Logan Kelly,
Hugo Arteaga and
Yassin Abdelghany clocked a 1:24.36 to earn the championship title.
After the 200 medley relay, the women's team went to the diving boards for the 3-meter event. IU Indy put two in the top eight with
Lindi Jenkins earning sixth with a score of 253.65 while
Alaina Heyde earned the top title with a score of 284.60.
The women's 800 free relay team of
Bella Tufts,
Chloe Yerkes,
Addy Hirsbrunner and
Luca McGee earned fourth with a time of 7:28.93.
Nathan Rariden, Will Gorman,
Zach Drotar and
Jack Gallob then teamed up to take third in the men's 800 free relay.
After day one the men's team narrowly sits in second with 72 points behind Oakland with 74. The women's team also sits in second with 101 points behind Oakland with 103 points.
