IU INDY SWIM AND DIVE TAKES ON CARDINALS

The Jags are set to face the Ball State Cardinals on Friday, January 23

MUNCIE, Ind. – The IU Indy swim and dive teams are set to travel to Muncie, Indiana tomorrow, Friday, January 23 to face the Ball State Cardinals. The meet is set to kick off at 5:30 PM.
 
The men's swim team remains undefeated on the season with a 14-0 dual meet record, including a 6-0 mark in conference. The Jags are coming off a weekend sweep at Youngstown State.
 
Logan Kelly leads the Jags with three top times in the Horizon League, including a NCAA D1 cut time of 51.56 in the 100 breast. He also holds top times in the 50 breast (24.28) and the 200 breast (1:54.98).  Hugo Arteaga holds the top time in the conference in the 50 fly at 21.13.
 
Kelly has been named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week three times this season while Nathan Rariden has earned the honor once.
 
Sebastian Otero leads the Jags on the diving boards with top scores in both the 3-meter and 1-meter, earning Horizon League Diver of the Week seven times this season. Evan Butcher took the top score in the 3-meter at Youngstown State to earn his first career #HLSD Diver of the Week.
 
The women's team enters the weekend with a 14-2 mark and a perfect 6-0 mark in conference with their most recent wins at Youngstown State.   
 
Chloe Yerkes holds the second fastest time in the league in the 400 IM at 4:28.11 while Victoria Surdyka holds the second fastest times in the 100 breast (1:03.34) and the 50 breast (29.22). Addy Hirsbrunner has also earned the Horizon League Swimmer of the Week title twice this season.
 
Alaina Heyde leads the women's team in diving with the top scores on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. She has been named Horizon League Diver of the Week three times this season.
 
The Jags previously met the Cardinals this season at the annual House of Champions. The men's team took the top score while the Cardinals finished in third. In head-to-head dual meets, the Jags took the most recent matchup on Nov. 8, 2024 with a score of 234-64 but historically, the Cardinals have had the upper hand. Ball State leads the all-time series at 9-7.
 
On the women's side, the Cardinals finished in first at House of Champions and took the last dual meet with the Jags on Nov. 8, 2024 with a score of 189-108. They also hold the all-time series record at 14-2.
 
Events are scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM.
