INDIANAPOLIS- The IU Indianapolis men's soccer team will continue with their fifth road game in a row against the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana on Saturday (Sept. 6th) at Strassweg Field.

Earlier this week, the Jaguars went across town to face the Butler Bulldogs and came out victorious in a 1-0 shutout. Senior Youri Keijser got the opening goal at the 16-minute mark for his second of the season, assisted by sophomore Bali Esquivel and freshman Marcus Danh-Khoa Nguyen. Senior Cameron Maung-Maung was strong in the net with four saves.

The Jaguars were outshot 16-6 and 7-1 in corner kicks. Danh-Khoa Nguyen led the team with three shots, one on goal. Sophomore Tyson Aschliman and junior Jose Antonio Herra also had one shot each. Keijser leads the team with four points, and three Jaguars have one point; those are Esquivel, Danh-Khoa Nguyen, and sophomore Christian Nielsen.

QUOTABLE
"It's not about who we beat. It's the first win of the season, and hopefully more to come. Today is much more of the team who we have been until that (Louisville) game, and one bad game is not going to change that," said Head Coach Sid van Druenen.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN INDIANA
The Screaming Eagles are currently 1-2 on the season, with one shutout victory over Rose-Hulman, 1-0. Pablo Juan leads the team with one goal and also in points with two. Twin brothers Tony and Jimmy Murphy lead the team with one assist each.

INSIDE THE SERIES
IU Indy is 1-2 all-time against the University of Southern Indiana. The last match took place in 2023, with the Jaguars coming out on top in a 3-1 victory.

UP NEXT
The Jaguars will host Northern Illinois on Tuesday (Sept. 9th) at 6:00 pm at Carroll Stadium.
