MEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS NABC ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD; SIX NAMED TO HONORS COURT

Six Jaguars honored on the 2024-2025 NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The IU Indianapolis men's basketball team was honored with a 2024-2025 Team Academic Excellence Award by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and six Jaguars were named to the NABC Honors Court. In order to be honored, teams must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above and individuals chosen to the Honors Court must by a junior, senior or graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. 

The six members of last year's squad honored were Timaris Brown, Sean Craig, Ajay Holubar, Alec Millender, Jarvis Walker and Paul Zilinskas

Collectively, the team posted a 3.33 grade point average to earn the Academic Excellence Award. 

Brown, a junior swingman, had a 3.54 GPA while studying general studies. The Chicago-native played in 30 games, making three starts. He averaged 4.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while playing just under 13 minutes per contest. He scored in double-digits three times, including a season-high 19 points in 23 minutes off the bench at Cleveland State. 

Craig, a junior forward, had a 3.57 GPA while studying finance. The Sylvania, Ohio-native started all 32 games while averaging 12.1 points and a team-high 7.7 rebounds per contest. He registered four double-doubles and scored in double-figures 19 times, highlighted by a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double at Purdue Fort Wayne. He scored a season-high 26 points at Wright State on Feb. 8. 

Holubar, a graduate student guard, maintained a 3.89 GPA while pursing his Master's in health administration. The Bargersville, Ind.-native made nine appearances off the bench, totaling 16 points and playing just under six minutes per game. He had a season-high five points in eight minutes off the bench in the home win over Detroit Mercy. 

Millender, a graduate student guard, had a 3.68 GPA while studying sports journalism. The Chicago-native played all 32 games, making 25 starts at the lead guard spot. He averaged 8.2 points and 3.7 assists per game while leading the Horizon League and ranking No. 12 nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.95. He posted a season-high 16 points and five assists in a road win at Detroit Mercy as part of his 12 games scoring double-digits. 

Walker, a graduate student guard, maintained a 3.59 GPA while pursuing his Master's degree in health administration. The Muskegon, Mich.-native played in all 32 games, making 29 starts. He ranked second on the team and sixth in the Horizon League in scoring at 15.8 points per game while also leading the team in minutes per game (32.3 mpg). He scored in double-figures 27 times and scored better than 20 points in a game 11 times. He netted a season-high 26 points against Oakland and capped the regular season with 25 points and five assists in a home win over Wright State. 

Zilinskas, a graduate student guard, had a 3.67 while pursuing a certificate in communication studies. The Kaunas, Lithuania-native was a Great Lakes District Second Team honoree after leading the team in scoring (18.0 ppg), threes made (92), free throw percentage (89.4%) and three-point percentage (41.1%). His three-point and free throw percentages were tops in the Horizon League while he ranked second in the league in threes made per game (3.0/game) and total threes made (92). He scored in double-digits in 27 of his 31 appearances and had 14 games of 20-or-more points. He netted a season-high 32 points in 31 minutes in a road win at Alabama A&M and capped the regular season with 31 points in a home win over Wright State.
