EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The IUPUI women's tennis team fell on the road to Southern Indiana on Friday afternoon, 7-0. The Jags will next be in action on Sunday, March 3 when they travel to Western Kentucky.
Starting the match off down a player, the Jags were forced to forfeit a doubles match and the number six singles match.
Gabbie Orlando and
Emma Dell earned the number two doubles win, 6-3 but
Chloe Bailey and
Elle Kotre fell in the number one doubles match, 7-6. With the forfeited number three doubles match, the Jags dropped the doubles point, 1-0.
In singles play, the Jags had to forfeit the number six match putting them behind at 2-0.
Sofia Castillo fell in the number five spot, 6-0, 6-1. Kotre then fell in the number three match in two sets, 6-4, 6-0 while Orlando dropped the number four singles match, 6-3, 6-1. Dell fell in the number two singles match, 6-4, 6-4. Despite a three set battle, Bailey fell in the number one singles match, 6-7, 6-4, 1-0.
IUPUI is now 3-5 on the season and will next travel to Western Kentucky on Sunday, March 3 for a 2:30 PM first serve.
