Jazmyn Turner totaled 22 points in IUPUI's loss at Northern Kentucky on Wednesday, 100-88. Junior
Katie Davidson also added 20 points.
Northern Kentucky (8-16, 6-9 HL) was led by two 25 point performances coming from Carter McCray and Khamari Mitchell-Steen. McCray added 11 rebounds for a double-double while Mitchell-Steen added eight rebounds.
The Norse got out to a fast start, collecting the first six points before
Abby Wolterman put the Jags on the board, 6-2. IUPUI cut the lead down to three with a three-pointer from
Tahlia Walton, 19-16. Northern Kentucky finished the first quarter on a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 10 at 29-19.
IUPUI outscored the Norse in the second quarter by one point to cut the lead to nine, 49-40. The Jags shot 10-for-15 for their best field goal percentage of the night from the field. IUPUI continued to cut the lead in the third quarter by one point at 72-64.
The Norse shut down the slow comeback from the Jags in the fourth quarter shooting 61.5 percent to seal the victory. IUPUI couldn't overcome the first quarter deficit and fell 100-88.
IUPUI shot 57.1 percent (32-for-56) from the field while shooting 5-for-15 from three. Turnovers proved costly as the Jags turned over the ball 18 times compared to NKU's 13.
Turner led the Jags with 22 points and five rebounds while Davidson added 20 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Faith Stinson and
Jaci Jones also added five rebounds while Walton added 14 points and Wolterman added 10 points.
IUPUI is now 5-19 overall and 3-12 in Horizon League play. The Jags will return to the Jungle to host Robert Morris on Sunday, February 18 for a 2:00 PM tip.
