LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The IUPUI women's track and field team will participate at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on Friday (Feb. 2), competing against other school from the Midwest inside the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. The Jaguars will compete against competitors from Bellarmine, Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Louisville, Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Southeast Missouri, SIUE, Southern Illinois, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, UT-Martin, Western Illinois, Western Kentucky and Xavier, among others.
The Jaguars are coming off a stellar weekend at its own invitational inside Fall Creek Pavilion, keyed by distance ace Ellie Cates, who was the collegiate winner of the 5,000m event last week. A good chunk of the distance crew will sit out this weekend with the focus shifted to other events.
A collection of school record holders will compete as Modupe Awosanya will take aim at her own school records in the 60m (7.62) and long jump (6.22m) and Jada-Marie Davis will attempt to break her own mark in the high jump (1.66m). In addition, sophomore Reese McCuan will take aim at her own mark in the triple jump (11.46m).
Davis is also the team's top entrant in the 60m hurdles (9.47) while freshman Paige Schulte is the top entrant in the 200m dash (26.29). Karis Davis is the team's top entry in the 400m event (58.41) and senior Sophie Reichard is slated for the 800m. Reichard owns a personal best time of 5:09.93 in the mile and is coming off a season-best mark at the IUPUI Invitational.
Hannah Robbins will run the 3,000m event, having run 10:51.31.
The Jaguars will also compete in the 4x400 relay at meet's end as the group of McCuan, Wini Barnett, Journey Howard and Awosanya are slated for that event.
