JAGUARS LOOK TO EXTEND WINNING STREAK ON SATURDAY

IU Indy (5-5, 1-0 HL) to host Northern Kentucky (2-6, 0-0 HL) inside the Jungle on Saturday (Dec. 7)

12/6/2024 10:05:00 AM

INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indy men's basketball team will cap a three-game homestand on Saturday (Dec. 7) seeking a fourth straight victory when the Jaguars host Northern Kentucky (2-6, 0-0 HL) at 2:00 p.m. inside the Jungle. The Jaguars come in having won three straight, including its Horizon League opener against Green Bay on Wednesday night. Saturday will be the annual Holiday Hoops Day as the first 150 fans in attendance will receive an IU Indy themed ornament. Fans can purchase tickets by clicking here and are encouraged to purchase and download their tickets before arriving on-site on Saturday.

Saturday's game can be seen on ESPN+ as Rick Johnston (pxp) and Hall of Famer Bob Lovell (analyst) are on the call.

On the court, head coach Paul Corsaro's team is playing well with the program's first three-game winning streak since February 2021. On Wednesday, all five starters scored in double-digits, paced by Jarvis Walker's 25-point game, to push the Jags to an 84-75 win over Green Bay. Freshman DeSean Goode registered his first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds and senior guard Alec Millender had a season-high 15 points and five assists.

The Jaguars used a 14-0 run in the second half to flip a four-point deficit into a 10-point lead down the stretch. Junior Sean Craig helped ice the game at the foul line as part of his 12-point, 12-rebound double-double.

The Jags are looking to snap a five-game losing streak against Northern Kentucky since sweeping the regular season series back in January 2021.

QUOTABLE
"We know our potential. We know how good we can be. Just to put it out on the court and play a full 40 minutes of hard basketball and how we play our style - it was great," Walker said following Wednesday's win over Green Bay.

SCOUTING NORTHERN KENTUCKY
NKU is 2-6 on the season and 0-4 away from home. The Norse own wins over Kentucky State and Bellarmine and are coming off a road loss at Akron earlier this week. Trey Robinson (13.8 ppg, 7.1 rpg) and Sam Vinson (12.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg) lead NKU in scoring while Northern State-transfer Josh Dilling checks in a 9.8 points per game and a team-high 15 made threes. NKU is notoriously one of the top defensive teams in the league and is limiting opponents to 72.1 points per game and 45.3 percent from the floor this season.

SERIES HISTORY
IU Indy is just 4-14 all-time against NKU and 2-6 in eight meetings in Indianapolis. NKU has won the last five meetings between the two schools, including an 80-64 win in Highland Heights on Feb. 24, 2024 in the most recent matchup.

UP NEXT
The Jaguars will kickoff a stretch of four straight games away from home when they trek north to Fort Wayne to face Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7:00 p.m. inside Memorial Coliseum.
