MILWAUKEE - The IU Indianapolis men's basketball team will return to action on Sunday (Dec. 29) when the Jaguars trek north to face Milwaukee (9-4, 2-0 HL) at 1:00 p.m. CT (2 Eastern) at the Klotsche Center. Milwaukee comes in having won four straight while the Jaguars attempt to snap a four-game skid.
Since opening Horizon League play with a home win over Green Bay, head coach
Paul Corsaro's squad has had a collection of near misses, including a pair of two-point Horizon League losses. At FIU last week, the Jaguars led the entire first half and built an 18-point second half lead before falling late to the Panthers, 75-69.
Jarvis Walker came off the bench to tally 24 points and match his career-high with six assists.
Paul Zilinskas added 15 points and
Alec Millender and
DeSean Goode tallied 11 each. Corsaro tweaked his starting lineup at FIU, starting 7-footer
Julian Steinfeld for the first time this season and starting freshman
Keenan Garner in the frontcourt.
Walker and Goode provided 35 points off the bench, combining to hit 10-of-21 shot attempts. Junior
Sean Craig had six points, 12 rebounds and a career-high four assists in the loss.
The Jaguars enter play among the nation's top shooting teams from beyond the arc, leading the Horizon League with 10.7 treys per game. Zilinskas is tied for 31st nationally by shooting 45 percent from three and is 35th in the country with 3.2 threes per game. Zilinskas has made a three in every game and made at least three threes in 10 games.
SCOUTING MILWAUKEE
Milwaukee is 9-4 overall and 2-0 to start Horizon League play. The Panthers are 6-0 at home this season and currently ranked No. 23 in the most recent Mid-Major Top 25. Milwaukee is elite on the glass, averaging 42.6 rebounds per game while outrebounding their opponents by nearly 13 caroms per game. Five Milwaukee players are averaging better than 13 points per game as Themus Fulks leads the team in scoring (14.5 ppg) and the Horizon League in assists (5.7 apg). AJ McKee checks in at 13.9 points per game and Kentrell Pullian averages 13.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Jamichael Stillwell scores 13.7 points per game and leads the Horizon League at 11.9 rebounds per contest. Finally, Erik Pratt is averaging 13.0 points per game, but has played just five games this season.
SERIES HISTORY
IU Indy is 6-17 overall against Milwaukee, having lost the last eight contests in the all-time series. The Jaguars are just 2-11 in the 13 meetings in Milwaukee and haven't won at Milwaukee since 2018. The most recent meeting was a 75-70 Milwaukee win on Feb. 28, 2024 in Indianapolis.
