INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indianapolis men's basketball program announced a pair of signings as Maguire Mitchell (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) and Gabe Stewart (Daytona Beach, Fla./DME Academy) recently inked with the Jaguars.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-5 guard, is regarded among the state's top prospects while Stewart, a 6-foot-9 forward, brings international experience to the program, having played for the Puerto Rican U16/U17 National Team.

"We're excited to be adding these two young men to our basketball program. They're guys we targeted early on and really pursued throughout the recruiting process," head coach Paul Corsaro said. "Both of them are going to come in and immediately help fill some holes in our roster, given some of the losses we're going to have to graduation.

"Maguire is a really versatile player who can do a little bit of everything. He can score it, defend, shoot it well and passes the ball well. He plays with some toughness that's going to fit in well with our returning guys. Gabe is tremendously skilled at 6-foot-9 with a really polished offensive game. He plays really hard and competes at both ends of the floor, both offensively and defensively."

Mitchell averaged 20.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as a junior at Zionsville High School, earning First Team All-Hoosier Crossroads Conference honors. He played AAU with Indiana Elite, helping them to an adidas 3SSB National runner-up finish last summer. He's ranked among the top 10 prospects in the state by numerous publications.

Stewart has been a key contributor for a strong DME Academy squad that went 25-11 last season and was Florida SIAA State runner-up. DME also placed third at the Chick-Fil-A Classic in Columbia, S.C., beating Dream City Christian in the consolation game. This season, he's averaging 15.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots per game for DME's postgrad team while shooting 70 percent from the floor to start the year. He played for Puerto Rico at the FIBA U17 World Cup 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey, and had double-doubles against both the Philippines and Italy.
