SWIM AND DIVE DEFEATS NORTHERN KENTUCKY AND SOUTHERN INDIANA

Jaguars took first in 25 events

INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy swim and dive swept Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana on both the men's and women's sides. The Jags took first in every event but one, earning 25 first-place finishes. Emmaleigh Zietlow, Addy Hirsbrunner and Midori Adams highlighted the women's team with two first-place finishes each. For the men's team, William Gorman, Zach Drotar and Sebastian Otero each recorded two individual wins.
 
Both the men's and women's team set the tone early with relay wins. The women's 400 medley relay team of Hirsbrunner, Victoria Surdyka, Lillian Brandt and Luca McGee took first with a total time of 3:56.24. The men's team of Jack Gallob, Drotar, Isaac Wilson and Luca Eckert took the top time of 3:25.40.
 
The women's team earned ten individual first-place finish against the Screaming Eagles and Norse. Zietlow earned two top times with first-place finishes in the 200 free (1:50.47) and the 500 free (4:57.70). Hirsbrunner also earned two first-place finishes with top times in the 200 IM (2:11.76) and 100 back (59.03).
 
Kaylee Dexter (1000 free – 10:58.81), McGee (50 free – 24.22), Dani Stemper (100 fly – 1:00.07) and Brandt (100 free – 53.60) each earned a first-place finish for the women's team as well.
 
On the men's swimming side, freshman Gorman and Drotar led the way with two wins each. Gorman took first in the 200 free (1:42.44) and 100 fly (50.48). Drotar earned first in the 200 IM (1:54.73) and 100 breast (57.51).
 
Other first place finishes for the men's swim team came from Nathan Rariden (1000 free – 9:41.81), Hugo Arteaga (50 free – 21.17), Eckert (100 free – 46.74), Grayson Tidwell (100 back – 51.76) and Michael Esdon (500 free – 4:44.19).
 
On the diving boards for the Jags, Adams and Otero swept the competition taking wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter. Adams earned first for the women's team in the 1-meter with a score of 222.23 and first in the 3-meter with a score of 223.95. On the men's side, Otero swept the competition with high scores in the 1-meter (389.33) and 3-meter (417.53).
 
The Jags closed out the meet with first-place finishes in the 400 free relay. The women's team of McGee, Zietlow, Dexter and Brandt took first with a time of 3:34.56 while the men's team of Isaac Wilson, Max Gerke, Arteaga and Brady Gray took first with a time of 3:06.34.
 
The women's team defeated Southern Indiana with a score of 137-97 and Northern Kentucky by 160-7. The men's team took down Southern Indiana, 189-53 and Northern Kentucky 197-37.
 
The IU Indy swim and dive teams will now prepare for the Dan Ross Intercollegiates at Purdue. That meet is scheduled for Saturday, October 12 at 12:00 PM.
