JAGUARS OUTSWIM PHOENIX IN FRIDAY DUAL MEET

Thirteen different Jags earned an individual first-place finish

GREEN BAY, Wisc. – The IU Indianapolis swim and dive teams defeated the Green Bay Phoenix in Friday's dual meet. The men's team earned the victory with a score of 164 to 79 while the women's team barely out swam the Phoenix at 123 to 119. Thirteen different Jags earned a first-place individual finish in the win.
 
On the men's side Youssef Magdy went the distance, earning first in the 1000 free with a time of 9:43.30. Michael Esdon finished right behind him with a time of 9:52.48. Magdy also earned a second-place finish in the 500 free (4:44.14) behind IU Indy freshman William Gorman at 4:41.24. Esdon took third in the 500 free with a time of 4:46.44. Finishing out the longer distances in the 200 free was Nathan Rariden with the top time of 1:42.07. Gorman followed with a time of 1:44.03.
 
Three other freshman earned top finishes with Hugo Arteaga swimming the top time in the 100 fly (49.11) followed by junior Isaac Wilson (49.70) and sophomore Keiran Rahmaan (51.02). Freshman Zach Drotar earned the individual win in the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.45 and Max Gerke swam the top time in the 100 free at 46.89. Sophomore Luca Eckert finished behind Gerke in the 100 free with a time of 47.08.
 
Sebastian Otero led the Jaguars on the diving boards, sweeping the competition. He earned the top spot in the 1-meter with a score of 366.98. Adam Schmehl finished in second with a score of 315.30 and Blake Vanderjeugdt followed in third with a score of 268.65. The Jags dominated the 3-meter dive as well with Otero taking the top spot at 384.00. Schmehl followed again in second at 310.00, Vanderjeugdt took third at 254.00 and Levi Vorreyer took fourth at 238.00.
 
On the women's side, freshman Addy Hirsbrunner led with two individual wins. Hirsbrunner took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.40 while Kaylee Dexter followed at 2:15.54. The freshman then earned her second top time of the meet in the 100 back at 58.50. Lillian Brandt took first in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.24 while Emmaleigh Zietlow dominated the 500 free at 4:56.49. Freshman Dani Stemper earned the top time in the 100 fly at 59.56 while fellow freshman Luca McGee took first in the 100 breast at 1:06.26.
 
On the boards, Midori Adams earned first in the women's 1-meter dive with a score of 248.00.
 
Both the men's and women's 200 free relay teams took first. The women's team of Zietlow, McGee, Brandt and Hirsbrunner took first with an overall time of 1:37.20. The men's team of Arteaga, Rariden, Gorman and Ben Kimmel earned the top time of 1:24.09.
 
Overall the men's swim and dive team defeated Green Bay with a score of 164 to 79 while the women's team defeated the Phoenix with a score of 123 to 119.
 
The IU Indy Jaguars will continue their Wisconsin trip when they face the Milwaukee Panthers tomorrow, Saturday, October 26 in a 12:00 PM ET dual meet.
