DAYTON, Ohio - The IU Indianapolis women's soccer team earned a key road result with a scoreless draw at Wright State on Thursday night (Oct. 17), adding another point to their total in the league standings. Senior goalkeeper
Ashton Kudlo recorded five saves in the draw and was credited with her 15th career shutout. The Jaguars weathered an offensive storm from Wright State (4-8-2, 2-3-2 HL) in the opening half before leveling the run of play over the final 45 minutes.
WSU closed with a 16-10 shot advantage and 8-0 margin in corner kicks, but was unable to solve Kudlo or the defensive group, led by
Sarah Henson,
Katie Hoog and
Kailyn Smith.
"I think our defense did a really good job of staying on top of things," Kudlo said. "I'm super proud of our team effort to not concede the whole 90 minutes. We've been struggling with energy in the second half and I think we did a great job of keeping the intensity up.
"It feels good to get another shutout, but I think we're all looking forward to battling Milwaukee this Sunday!"
Wright State was the aggressor from the outset, attempting four shots and earning four corner kicks in the opening eight minutes. The Raiders closed the first half with better than 60 percent possession and a wide 12-3 gap in shot attempts.
The Jags (4-8-3, 3-2-2 HL) best opportunities in the match came on a
Lindsey Castillo shot attempt in the 79th minute and
Maia Ransom tested WSU keeper Erin Baker in the 86th minute. Ransom and
Keilah Muldrow both had shots just off target in the 89th minute as the Jaguars tried to snatch a victory in the closing minutes.
Ransom had a team-high three shot attempts and Muldrow and
Caroline Kelley had two apiece.
The Jaguars will return home to host Milwaukee on Sunday (Oct. 20) at 1:00 p.m. on
